"Whole Lotta Strummin' Going On"

Margie
As a child I enjoyed a lot of creativity in my family home, and my first ever fan was my grandma, who loved hearing me sing down the phone from the age of four. I picked up the guitar at eight, and music has given me confidence, joy and a lifelong outlet for self-expression. The ukulele is a great instrument for children to learn to play, and because it only has four strings, it is nice and easy to master at a basic level and you can learn quickly compared to other instruments. Performing as Margie Jay Jammie, I balance music-making with a background in graphic design and my work as an EFL language teacher. I teach both online and in person, running lessons, workshops and open-mic nights that celebrate curiosity and connection. My two much-loved spaniels, Coco and Sasha, remain a gentle inspiration and part of the heartbeat behind everything I do.
Alex
Alex grew up in the Midlands, became surgically attached to a drum kit at 11, and hasn’t stopped collecting instruments since. Over the years he has toured the world as John Lennon in a leading Beatles tribute production, with the renowned Unique Komedy Ukulele Orchestra, and releases his own music under the alias Darling BOY. When he’s not on the road he checks in with the North London Ukulele Club—recording Strumming Tutor videos, popping up at open-mic nights and sharing the occasional nugget of licensing wisdom (usually accompanied by his legendary love of houmous). He’s a proud uncle, a generous sounding board, and living proof that musical curiosity never stands still.
Margie holds an up-to-date DBS certificate and safeguarding training. Our approach supports learners of all ages in their musical journey, encouraging personal expression and confidence through creative exploration and lots of fun.
