Lulu Lupin at Jacksons Lane - May Half Term

Lulu Lupin is coming to Jacksons Lane this May Half Term, bringing a magical ukulele experience for children aged 5–9. Tuesday 26 May 2026

Two sessions: 10:30 and 14:30

Jacksons Lane, Highgate

Studio 5

Ages 5–9

This is not just a music workshop, but a playful, immersive session where children explore rhythm, storytelling and creativity through music.

In the session, children:

•. Engage with storytelling through Lulu Lupin and her world of characters, including her wolf family and musical companions

•. Explore rhythm through games, body percussion and guided movement

•. Learn simple chords and begin playing the ukulele together

•. Take part in creating a group song

Ukuleles are provided, and each child receives a special gift to take home from Lulu’s world, extending the experience and their learning beyond the session.

Lulu Lupin is part of that world — a way of bringing storytelling, rhythm and imagination together so that children are not just following instructions, but actively creating and expressing themselves.

Lulu Lupin is a wolf — but not the one we might expect from traditional stories. The character reimagines the idea of the “big bad wolf”, drawing instead on the real nature of wolves as social, intelligent and deeply connected animals.

This perspective is part of a wider creative world I’ve developed for Ukulittle®, set in the land of Flickerwick in the county of Splottingham — a space where music, storytelling and imagination come together, inviting exploration and participation.

Through this kind of experience, participants can begin a musical journey that develops over time, from early playful exploration into more structured learning and creative expression.

Lulu Lupin has already been performed as part of a commissioned project for the Festival Naturae, Lido di Classe, Ravenna (2023), as well as in a test run at the Green Shed in Muswell Hill (2025).

Jacksons Lane feels like a natural home for a project like Lulu Lupin. As a venue with a strong focus on creativity, performance and community, it attracts an audience that is open, curious and engaged, which aligns closely with the spirit of Ukulittle®.

After nearly ten years of providing music education in North London with the North London Ukulele Club, this moment feels like an important step for Ukulittle®. It brings our work into a space that reflects its values and its potential, while also opening the door to future endeavours.

These May Half Term sessions are a first opportunity to showcase in this setting and to gauge interest.

Looking ahead, our unique ukulele-based approach is a natural fit with Jacksons Lane’s existing programme, with scope for regular sessions in the autumn.

I’ve been developing this approach over time, working closely with children and finding ways to make music feel immediate, accessible and genuinely enjoyable from the very start.

A warm and engaging creative experience designed to connect children with storytelling, music and play.
